Leon Sculy Logothetides (also known as Sculy Logotheti or only Sculy, sometimes Scully or, erroneously, Scully-Logothely)〔Mihai Sorin Rădulescu, ("Genealogii - Sculy-Logothetides" ), ''Ziarul financiar - Ziarul de Duminică'', 28 iulie 2006.〕 (born in 1853, Piatra Neamț, Principality of Moldavia - died in 1912, Iași, Kingdom of Romania)〔Ionel Maftei, ''Personalități ieșene: Omagiu'', Vol. 2, Comitetul de cultură și educație socialistă al județului Iași, 1975, p. 241.〕 was a Romanian polician (member of the Chamber of Deputies)〔 and surgeon, professor at the Faculty of Medicine from Iași, one of the founders of the surgery school in Iași. ==Biography== Leon Sculy is a descended of a family of Greek origin, his parents being Sculy Logothetides (Sculy, the surname, was transformed in name in the next generation), low-ranking boyar installed in Piatra Neamț, and Caliopi Caraghioz. He had a brother, Vasile Sculy (1844 - 1918), lawyer, MP and senator, married to Sofia Exarhu, and a sister, Cleopatra.〔 The second Leon Sculy of this family was his nephew, son of Vasile, married to Princess Marguerite Marie Catherine Caradja (1893–1933) from Caradja aristocratic family.〔 Leon Sculy followed the high school in Paris, and then medical studies at the Faculty of Medicine from Montpellier and the Faculty of Medicine from Paris.〔Lucian Nastasă, ''(Itinerarii spre lumea savantă: tineri din spațiul românesc la studii în străinătate, 1864-1944 )'', Colecția Paradigme, Editura Limes, 2006, p. 160.〕〔N. The 1/13 December 1879 it was he was in charge of the inaugural lesson.〔Page (''Scurt istoric al Facultății de Medicină'' ), on the site of the University of Medecine and Pharmacy, Iași.〕 Leon Sculy has been formed as surgeons in the service of Professor Ludovic Russ senior.
